LONGVIEW, Texas - The UT Dallas volleyball team overcame a two-set deficit to defeat LeTourneau 19-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-17, 15-8 on the road in the American Southwest Conference opener.
The YellowJackets (5-2, 1-1 ASC) took the error-filled first set then hit .310 in the second frame to go up 2-0. Down 18-15, the Comets (4-3, 1-0 ASC) held off the sweep with a 10-6 run, to take the third set 25-21 and continue the match.
UTD cruised in the final two sets, leading the entire time to take the match 3-2. They hit an explosive .500 on 10 kills in the fifth and deciding game.
The Comets hit .163 with 62 kills, eight aces, 10 blocks and 102 digs. The YellowJackets hit .103 with 50 kills, seven aces, nine blocks and 93 kills
UT Dallas Notes
- Senior outside hitter
Catherine Croft led the Comets with season-highs of a .292 attack percentage and 19 kills. She also recorded 10 digs and three blocks.
- Croft moved into the program career top 10 with 782.

Abby Jones, also a senior outside, connected on 15 kills and a season-high 25 digs with three blocks.
- Freshman right side
Gabi Engels recorded a season-high 13 kills and nine digs.

Emma Sevening, a junior setter, tied her career-high with five aces and registered a career-best 30 aces.
- Sophomore setter
Mikayla Cho had a season-high 12 assists and junior
Izzy Sundquist added 11.
- Senior middle blocker
Karle Lynd had a career-high six blocks.
- Junior libero
Rachel Baxter came up with 22 digs and
Madison Ball had 17.
LeTourneau Notes
- Hannah Payan led the YellowJackets with 14 kills and had 14 digs.
- Libero Morgan Nix led all players with 37 digs.
- Reina Lawson recorded a double-double with 23 assists and 10 digs.
- Kaci Monk had nine kills, three aces and six blocks.
