Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

UTD Blanks McMurry 2-0 in Non-Conference Test

RICHARDSON, Texas - Freshman midfielder Janae Shaklee netted both goals for UT Dallas as the Comets shutout McMurry 2-0 in a non-conference contest Thursday night at the UTD Soccer Complex.

The host Comets (3-3) dominated possession and outshot the War Hawks (2-3-2) 19-1 overall and 8-1 on goal.

Shaklee scored the first goal in the 41st minute after cutting through three defenders and pivoted to her left. She followed in the 46th minute after freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Futschik broke through from the left side, sent a cross to the front of the goal which freshman forward Alexa Poage put a touch on before Shaklee rocketed the ball in. 

For the game, UTD held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks and led in fouls 5-3.

UT Dallas Notes
- The goals were Shaklee's team leading third and fourth of the season.
- The assists were the first in the careers of both Poage and Futschik.
- Shaklee took six shots, three on goal, while forward Bella Granada had four shots and two on goal.
- Tori Aucoin, Poage and Melanie Marchant also took a shot on goal.
- Sophomore keeper Jade Press made one save in the shutout, which came in the final three minutes of the game.
- The Comet defender crew of Hendrikje Bodine, Peyton Guidry, Caitlin Malone, Skyler Rodrigue, Skylar Williams, Faith Autery and Helene Miller shut down McMurry.

McMurry Notes
- Cortlynn Boone recorded six saves in goal.
- Jenna Barouh took the only shot for the War Hawks.
