MARSHALL, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball went on the road to defeat East Texas Baptist 71-55 in American Southwest Conference play at Ornelas Gymnasium Thursday night.
The Comets (9-6, 5-3 ASC) continued their stellar defensive play, holding the Tigers (11-4, 5-3 ASC), who received votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, to 34.6 percent shooting (18-for-52) from the field.
UTD led from the 6:29 mark of first period on, including a 26-20 lead at halftime. They dominated the third quarter, outscoring ETBU 28-12 while shooting 73.3 percent (11-for-15) overall and 5-for-6 from three-point range. The Comets led by as many as 24 points in the fourth quarter.
For the game, UT Dallas shot 41.5 percent (22-for-53) from the field, 10-for-22 from three-point range and 17-for-19 at the line. They also recorded 30 rebounds, 13 assists, three blocks, nine steals and 22 turnovers. The three-point and free throw percentages were season-bests for the Comets.
The Tigers also shot 6-for-22 from outside and 13-for-19 at the line with 35 rebounds, nine assists, one block, 14 steals and 25 turnovers.
UTD, ETBU and Sul Ross State are now tied for third place in the ASC.
UT Dallas Notes
- Sophomore guard
Cierra Trigg recorded career-highs with 21 points and eight rebounds to go with a pair of assists and two steals.
- Senior
Maddie Edler went 3-for-5 from three-point range, en route to a season-best nine points.

Lauren Fulenwider was also 3-for-5 from outside for nine points.
- Sophomore guard
Trystan Clark also scored nine points, going 7-for-8 at the free throw line.

Jordan Maxwell added nine points with three steals.

Blythe Williams pulled down five rebounds and three assists.
East Texas Baptist Notes
- Jade Goynes led the Tigers with 19 points and had six rebounds off the bench.
- Bridget Upton scored 14 points with four boards.
- Mollie Dittmar added 11 points, eight rebounds and three steals.
- Kaia Williams had eight points and four assists.
