LONGVIEW, Texas - Graduate student guard
Kyle Poerschke broke the school record with 43 points as the UT Dallas men's basketball team held off LeTourneau 89-81 at Solheim Arena in American Southwest Conference competition Saturday afternoon.
Poerschke was 15-for-22 from the field, tying the school record for field goals made, 7-for-10 from three-point range and 6-for-7 at the line. He broke the old record of 40 points held by Martin Salinas against McMurry on November 26, 2005 and Rafael Farley at Mary Hardin-Baylor on January 17, 2015.
The first place Comets (13-3, 8-1 ASC) led by as many as 19 in the first half before taking a 43-33 advantage into halftime. The YellowJackets (7-9, 4-5 ASC) chipped at the deficit and took a 76-75 lead with 3:52 to play. UTD scored the next five points to go up five and a three-pointer from LETU's Jackson Mayes made the game 80-79 at the 2:12 mark.

Will Isaac extended the Comets' lead to five points and gave the visitors control of the game for the final 1:11.
UTD shot 51.7 percent (30-for-58) overall, their eighth time shooting above 50 percent this season. They were also 12-for-25 from outside and 17-for-22 at the free throw line with 33 rebounds, 15 assists, 11 steals and 13 turnovers.
The YellowJackets shot 58 percent (29-for-50) from the field, 12-of-21 from three-point range and 11-of-19 at the stripe to go with 22 boards, 17 assists, three blocks, six steals and 14 turnovers.
UT Dallas Notes
- Poerschke also grabbed seven rebounds and had two assists and a pair of steals to go with his 43 points.

Hunter Stevens scored 10 points with three assists.
- Isaac was 4-of-5 shooting for 10 points and four rebounds.

Nick Donnelly made a pair of three-pointers, scoring seven points.

Brayden Wright added six points and a career-high six rebounds.

- Mayes led the YellowJackets with 24 points and four steals.
- Deonte Jackson had 15 points and four assists.
- Walker Blaine added 14 points and five boards.
- Warren Richardson posted nine points, five rebounds and six assists.
