BROWNWOOD, Texas - The American Southwest Conference-leading UT Dallas men's basketball team continued its successful season by defeating Howard Payne 96-66 at the Brownwood Coliseum Saturday night.
The Comets (15-3, 10-1 ASC) hit the first basket of the game just over two minutes into the contest and led the rest of the way. The visitors took a 43-29 lead into halftime over the Yellow Jackets (3-16, 1-10 ASC). UTD would lead by as many as 33 in the second period.
The Comets shot 57.1 percent (40-for-70) overall, 10-for-24 from outside and 6-for-12 at the free throw line. They also had 43 rebounds, 18 assists, one block, nine steals and 15 turnovers.
HPU shot 39.7 percent (23-for-58) from the field, 7-of-21 from three-point range and 13-for-19 at the line with 27 rebounds, 11 assists, seven steals and 18 turnovers.
UT Dallas Notes
- Senior guard
Hunter Stevens scored a season-high 17 points, going 7-for-9 from the field and hitting a trio of three-point attempts.
- Graduate student
Kyle Poerschke scored 16 points and tied a season-best four steals.
- Sophomore forward
Rob Wade went 4-for-4 en route to nine points.

Luke Kiser scored seven.
- Freshman forward
Austin Page scored seven points and pulled down a season-best six rebounds.

Donovan Souter netted seven points with five boards and a pair of steals.
- Senior center
Will Isaac scored six points and led the Comets with nine rebounds.
- Freshman
Ethan Van Horn scored six points and grabbed thre rebounds.
Howard Payne Notes
- Armonie Ramie led all players with 23 points and 10 rebounds with three steals.
- Harold Myart added nine points.
- Myles Brown scored eight points off the bench with four rebounds.
