Comets Hold off Eagles for Fifth Consecutive Win

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The UT Dallas men's basketball team earned its fifth consecutive win, all on the road, topping Ozarks 73-69 at Mabee Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.

The Comets improve to 16-3 overall and 11-1 in American Southwest Conference competition to remain in first place with six games remaining in the regular season.

UTD lead Ozarks (7-12, 2-10 ASC) 41-35 at halftime and led by as many as nine points with 13:21 remaining in the contest. The Eagles tied the game at 66-66 with a pair of free throws by Dillon Cheater at the 3:05 mark. Comet sophomore guard Nick Donnelly hit a three-pointer and graduate student guard Kyle Poerschke scored in the paint to go back up with 70 seconds left.

UO's Kamren Roelke converted a three-point play with 23 seconds remaining to cut the deficit to 71-69. After an Eagle foul, Donnelly hit both free throws four seconds later for the final 73-69 score.

UTD shot 40.3 percent (27-for-67) from the field, 8-for-28 from three-point territory and 11-of-17 at the free throw line. They also recorded 41 rebounds, 11 assists, seven turnovers, three blocks, three steals and committed just seven turnovers.

Ozarks shot 37.9 percent (22-for-58) overall, 12-of-38 from outside and 13-for-15 at the line with 39 boards, 14 assists, one block, three steals and 12 turnovers.

UT Dallas Notes
- The Comet bench was responsible for 42 points. 
- Donnelly paced UTD with a career-high 18 points to go with a personal best five rebounds.
- Freshman forward Austin Page tied a season-best with 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting. He also grabbed five boards.
- Poerschke finished with 16 points and tied a season-high of nine rebounds. 
- Senior center Will Isaac pulled down 10 rebounds and blocked three shots. He moved into fifth place on the UTD career blocks list with 62. 
- Luke Kiser had six points, five rebounds and four assists.

Ozarks Notes
- Josh Ukpe led app players with 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
- Grayson Nix had 13 points and six boards.
- Roelke finished with 10 points, four rebounds and three assists off the bench.
- Cheater added seven points and seven rebounds.
