RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's basketball won its sixth game in a row and 15 of the last 16 Saturday afternoon, defeating Hardin-Simmons 90-73 at the UTD Activity Center.
With the victory, the Comets (17-3, 12-1) continue to lead the American Southwest Conference, staying just ahead of Mary Hardin-Baylor who are 12-2. UTD has five games remaining in the regular season.
The Comets led the entire game, jumping on top of the Cowboys (13-7, 8-5 ASC) 14-4 over the first six minutes. The host team led 41-33 at the half and had as much as a 23 point lead in the second period. UTD shot a dazzling 72 percent (18-for-25) in the closing half.
For the game, the Comets shot 54.7 percent (35-for-64), the 10th time they have topped 50 percent this season. They also were 11-for-22 from three-point range and 9-for-15 at the line with 40 rebounds, 27 assists, two blocks, nine steals and 12 turnovers.
HSU shot 39 percent (23-for-59) overall, 4-for-17 from outside and 23-of-33 at the free throw line to go with 34 rebounds, 12 assists, four blocks, seven steals and 13 turnovers.
UT Dallas Notes
- Sophomore forward
Rob Wade tied his career-highs with 16 points and three assists and pulled down a new best nine rebounds.
- Senior
Hunter Stevens scored 13 points and dished out five assists.
- Freshman
Austin Page cae off the bench, shooting 5-for-6 en route to 13 points.
- Guard
Kyle Poerschke recorded 12 points, six rebounds, a season-high six assists and three steals.
- Sophomore guard
Nick Donnelly added 10 points.
- Senior center
Will Isaac scored seven points and blocked a shot, moving into a tie for fourth in UTD's career blocked shots list with 63.
- Senior
James Curtis had a season-best nine boards to go with seven points and six assists.
