Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

UTD Blanks ETBU 2-0

MARSHALL, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer team posted its sixth shutout of the season, defeating East Texas Baptist 2-0 at Cornish Field in American Southwest Conference action Thursday evening.

After a scoreless first half, the Comets (7-5-2, 3-2 ASC) went up 1-0 when freshman forward Kawan Borba knocked it in from the left side of the box after a pass from Hamza Syed in the 61st minute. Luke Harris had he final goal after stopping a long pass with a touch and splitting two defenders before blasting the ball into the right corner of the net.

UTD outshot ETBU (1-7-5, 0-5-1 ASC) 23-6 overall and 12-1 on goal. Both teams had five corner kick chances and the Tigers led in fouls 15-6.

With three games left in league play, the Comets sit in fourth place with the top six teams making the ASC Championship Tournament. 

UT Dallas Notes
- The Comets improve to 21-8-1 with 11 shutouts all-time against the Tigers.
- UTD's 23 shots and 12 on goal were the second most on the season.
- Borba and Harris each scored their first goals as Comets.
- Syed's assist was his team-leading fourth of the year.
- Michael Hesse made one save for his sixth shutout of the year and ninth of his career.
- Kane Kidwell, Benny Lube, Harris and Borba each took two shots on goal.
- Defenders Kayson Marriott, Josh Zemanski and Cayden Casburn played all 90 minutes.

East Texas Baptist Notes
- Bruno Palmieri took the only shot on goal for ETBU.
- Brenden Gajeswki had two shots.
- Anthony Lozada made eight saves.
- Aram Mijares, Matthew Dieb and Lucas Arreguin logged 90 minutes.
