Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

UTD Edged by HSU 2-1

RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer team lost to Hardin-Simmons 2-1 in American Southwest Conference action at the UTD Soccer Field Thursday night.

With one game left in the regular season, the Comets (7-6-3, 3-3-1 ASC) sit in fourth place with 10 points. They have secured a spot in next week's ASC Championship Tournament and will play for a right to host a Quarterfinal match on Tuesday, October 31.

The Cowboys (6-5-5, 4-1-2 ASC) opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Jerron Garcia scored on a pass from Jakob Fiol. UTD tied the game in the 52nd minute when sophomore defender Josh Zemanski found the back of the net after a deflection from an HSU defender. 

Fiol scored the game-winner for the Cowboys in the 76th minute.

UTD outshot HSU 19-8 overall, but the Cowboys held a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Comets had more corner kicks 5-1 while the Cowboys led in fouls, 14-10.

UT Dallas Notes
- Zemanski's goal was the first of his career as a Comet.
- Riley O'Donnell, Kawan Borba and Luke Harris each took a shot on goal.
- Kayson Marriott and Julio De Los Reyes both played all 90 minutes.
- Michael Hesse made three saves in goal.

Hardin-Simmons Notes
- Fiol recorded the game-winning goal and an assist. 
- J.J. Sissen and Omar Estrada each took a shot on goal.
- Carson Null made three saves.
- Gage Riley, Maxwell Winneker and Micah - Curry played all 90 minutes.

Up Next
The Comets close the regular season against McMurry at home Saturday at 7:30 p.m. UTD will honor nine seniors before the game.
