RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer team will begin its postseason run when they host Ozarks in the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Quarterfinals at the UTD Soccer Complex Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
The Comets enter the tournament as the #4 seed with an 8-6-3 overall record and 4-3-1 mark in league play. With a win, UTD would advance to the semifinals against top-seeded Mary Hardin-Baylor Thursday in Belton, Texas.
UTD is making its 23rd all-time and 14th consecutive trip to the postseason in the program's 26-year history and will be looking for a 14th straight appearance in the ASC Final Four with a win on Tuesday over the visiting Eagles (7-9, 3-5 ASC).
The Comets are 4-1 all-time against the Eagles in the tournament. Ozarks won the first meeting in the 2003 finals, but UTD won the 2007 championship in Clarksville, Ark., the 2013 quarterfinal game, te 2019 semifinals matchup and last year's quarterfinal 2-1.
UTD defeated Ozarks 3-1 at home on October 7.
The Comets boast one of the top offenses in the league, entering the postseason ranked first in goals (32) and points (90) and second in assists (27). Junior forward
Riley O'Donnell is second in the league with six goals to go with three assists. Junior midfielder
Cole Morgan is tied for fourth with five goals and and tied for third with four assists. Sophomore midfielder
Hamza Syed is also tied for third in the ASC with four assists.
Luke Deats and
Ben Paranidharan each have four goals and
Kane Kidwell has three goals and an assist.
Defensively, the Comets rank third in the league with 19 goals allowed. Junior keeper
Michael Hesse is fourth with a 1.12 goals against average and 47 saves and tied for first with six shutouts.
