Men's Soccer Rolls to ASC Semifinals with 5-1 Win

RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer team opened the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament with a 5-1 victory over Ozarks in the Quarterfinal round at the UTD Soccer Field Tuesday night.

With the win, the Comets (9-6-3) will move on to face top-seeded Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas at 5 p.m. Thursday in a Semifinal matchup.

Senior midfielder put UTD up early with a goal just 5:13 into the contest. He assisted the second goal on a corner kick that went off of Julio De Los Reyes header in the 27th minute. The Eagles (7-10) cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 40th minute with an Ernesto Frias score.

The Comets continued their momentum in the second half with goals from Cayden Casburn (51st), Cole Morgan (69th) and Luke Deats (79th).

UTD outshot Ozarks 24-5 overall and 7-2 on goal. The Comets also led in corner kicks 7-0 and committed more fouls at 10-9.

UT Dallas Notes
- The Comets will make their 14th consecutive appearance in the ASC Semifinals and 21st overall.
- UTD improves to 5-1 all-time in tournament play against Ozarks.
- Five different Comets scored - Morgan, Lube, De Los Reyes, Casburn and Deats.
- Luke Harris recorded two assists and took six shots.
- Morgan, Lube, Kane Kidwell and Aiden Currie also had an assist.
- Michael Hesse recorded one save.

Ozarks Notes
- Chris Rodriguez and Lex Puente assisted the Eagles' goal
- Caleb Anderson recorded two saves in 82 minutes.
- Rodriguez also recorded a shot on goal.
- Brock Bernard, Harper Branch, Kyle Seymour and Rodriguez all played 90 minutes.
