ABILENE, Texas - The UT Dallas men's basketball team's five-game winning streak came to an end with a 94-85 American Southwest Conference loss to Hardin-Simmons at the Mabee Complex Monday afternoon.
The Comets (6-3, 2-1 ASC) and Cowboys (9-2, 5-0 ASC) were tied six times with eight lead changes in the first half. HSU took a 52-45 advantage into the break.
The Cowboys extended their lead to 13 early in the second period, but the Comets would manage to shave it down to 89-85 with 39 seconds left. HSU ended the game by going 5-for-6 at the free throw line in the final 30 seconds to secure the nine-point victory.
UTD shot 49.3 percent (33-for-67) from the floor, 11-for-28 from outside and 8-of-16 line. They also had 37 rebounds, 15 assists, 13 turnovers, one block and nine steals.
HSU shot 51.6 percent (32-for-62) overall, 6-of-19 from three-point range and 24-of-31 at the free throw line with 37 boards, 17 assists, 12 turnovers, six blocks and 10 steals.

- Will Bartoszek led the Cowboys with a double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds to go with three assists and three steals.
- Austin Brewer was 10-of-13 shooting for 25 points and pulled down eight rebounds.
- Jason Justice scored 17 points.
- Jalen McGee dished out 10 assists with five points and a pair of steals.
