BELTON, Texas - The #24 UT Dallas women's tennis team opened the spring portion of the schedule with a 9-0 victory at Mary Hardin-Baylor at the Yvonne Li Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Comets took each of the doubles matchups by the score of 8-1.
Saumya Vedula and
Rebecca Jackson won at No. 1,
Elyssa Ducret and
Megan Zeng at No. 2 and
Suzuka Nishino and
Tisha Nakakes-Nguyen at No. 3.
UTD continued the dominance over the Cru (1-1) by winning all six singles battles. Nishino, who is ranked #10 in the nation, won without giving up a game 6-0, 6-0 over Erin Kittredge at No. 1. Vedula took a 6-4, 6-4 decision from Jalon Burns at No. 2 and Jackson topped Lori Bryan 6-2, 6-3 at the third spot.
Ducret defeated Abbey Faggard 6-4, 6-1 in the fourth flight, followed by Zeng winning over Emily Higgs 6-4, 6-2 at five and Nakakes-Nguyen over Trinity McEowen 6-1, 6-0 in the sixth spot.
The Comets will open American Southwest Conference East Division play at LeTourneau on Friday, February 17 at 2 p.m.
