LONGVIEW, Texas - The #24 UT Dallas women's tennis team started American Southwest Conference East Division play with a 9-0 victory over LeTourneau (2-1) at Davis Tennis Courts Friday afternoon.
The three-time defending league champion Comets (2-0) started with five easy victories and a walkover win in singles.
Suzuka Nishino, who is ranked #10 in the nation, had a straight 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Brandy Weems at the top spot. Junior
Saumya Vedula topped Elizabeth Moreau 6-2, 6-0 at number two and
Rebecca Jackson won over Emma Boulanger 6-0, 6-1 in the third flight. Sophomores
Elyssa Ducret and
Megan Zeng won their #4 and #5 matchup 6-0, 6-0.
In number one doubles, Jackson and Vedula won 8-1 against Boulanger and Weems, while Ducret and Zeng defeated Moreau and Amber Van Duyn 8-1. Nishino teamed with
Tisha Nakakes-Nguyen to win 8-0 over Clara Brismana nd Abigail Everett in the final doubles match.
UT Dallas will face off with Hardin-Simmons at the UTD Tennis Courts Saturday at noon.
