RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's tennis team battled NCAA Division II to a 5-2 loss at the UTD Tennis Courts Sunday.

The Comets (3-1), who are ranked #24 in NCAA Division III, started the match by taking two of the three doubles matchups from the Lady Bisons (3-6) for the first point. At number one, junior tandem Saumya Vedula and Rebecca Jackson defeated Grace Dodd and Karli Roux 6-4 while Suzuka Nishino and Tisha Nakakes-Nguyen beat Rachel McCrae and Reka Pescsi 6-4 at number three.

Nishino, who is ranked #10 in DIII, picked up UTD's other point at number one singles, defeating Grace Dodd 6-3, 7-6 (7-5). Dodd is ranked #8 in the Division II Central Region.

Sophomore Megan Zeng fell to Pescsi in three sets - 3-6, 6-4, 3-6 - at the fifth spot. Sophomore Elyssa Ducret pushed Jing Yang in a 4-6, 4-6 defeat at number four.

The Comets will take on Dallas on Friday, February 24 at 5 p.m. at the UTD Tennis Courts.
