UTD Drops Game to McMurry

RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball lost to McMurry 68-65 in American Southwest Conference play at the UTD Activity Center Monday night.

The game was even at the end of the first quarter, tied 17-17. The visiting War Hawks (11-10, 5-10 ASC) took a 32-28 advantage into halftime. The Comets (13-8, 9-5 ASC) outscored McMurry 21-15 to lead 49-47 headed into the final period.

In the fourth, the teams tied three times and exchanged the lead seven times. A three-pointer by senior guard Jordan Maxwell gave UTD a 65-63 lead with 1:43 remaining. The War Hawks answered on the next possession with a three-pointer to go up 66-65 at the 1:20 mark. The squads missed shots on the next three possessions. Emily Holland sealed the victory for McMurry with a pair of free throws with 1.7 seconds left.

UTD now sits in fifth place in the ASC standings with four games to play. They are just behind Sul Ross State, who is 10-5.

UT Dallas Notes
- Maxwell recorded her first double-double with 10 points and a career-high 10 assists. She tied for the seventh most assists in school history.
- Senior guard Lauren Fulenwider went 4-for-9 from outside en route to 12 points. She also dished out a season-high five assists.
- Junior Blythe Williams scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds.
- Senior forward Diane Hurst added 11 points off the bench.
- Sophomore guard Cierra Trigg recorded six points and six boards.
- Kaylee Boykin also grabbed six rebounds.

McMurry Notes
- Holland led all players with 25 points, playing all 40 minutes.
- Kylie Flippin scored11 points and Helana Chadwick had 10 off the bench.
- Aryana Cleveland finished with eight points and 10 rebounds.
- Kaitlyn Randall added nine points and six rebounds.

Up Next
The Comets will travel to Belton, Texas on Thursday for a 5:30 tipoff at Mary Hardin-Baylor.
