BELTON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team suffered a 50-43 loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor at the Mayborn Campus Center Thursday night.
The American Southwest Conference contest turned into a defensive showdown. The host Cru (16-6, 11-4 ASC) led 12-8 after the first quarter and 25-15 at halftime. The Comets (13-9, 9-6 ASC) trailed 29-15 at the 8:03 mark in the third before going on a 19-8 run over the next seven minutes to the deficit to three. UMHB managed to hold off UTD in the fourth with an 11-9 advantage in the final period.
For the game, the Comets shot 27 percent (17-for-63) from the field, 6-for-17 from three-point range and 3-for-4 at the line. They also had 46 rebounds, 10 assists, six steals and 15 turnovers.
The Cru shot 34.5 percent (19-for-55) overall, 4-for-16 from outside and 8-for-12 at the charity stripe with 37 boards, 12 assists, six blocks, 10 steals and 11 turnovers.
With three games remaining in the regular season, UT Dallas sits in fifth place in the ASC standings. The Comets will qualify for the ASC Championship Tournament beginning February 21 and could finish anywhere from second to sixth place.

Cierra Trigg posted her fifth double-digit scoring performance of the season with 10 points.
- Senior
Lauren Fulenwider was 3-for-6 from outside, en route to nine points and had a pair of steals.
- Senior forward
Diane Hurst added six points.Â

Jordan Maxwell with eight,
Kyra Samuels with seven and
Maggie Delascurain with six.
- Junior guard
Blythe Williams also pulled down seven boards.
Mary Hardin-Baylor Notes
- Lauren Baker led the Cru with 11 points and pulled down five rebounds.
- Areiona Rosborough scored seven points as did McCall Hampton.
- Jaycie Brisco recorded five points, six rebounds and three steals.
