BELTON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's basketball lost to Mary Hardin-Baylor 83-77 in overtime in the battle of the top teams in the American Southwest Conference at the Mayborn Campus Center Thursday night.
The Comets (18-4, 13-2 ASC) and Cru (18-4, 13-2 ASC) are now tied at top of the league standings, with UMHB holding the tiebreaker for the number one seed of the ASC Championship Tournament. Each team has three games to play. East Texas Baptist sits in third place at 11-4 while Hardin-Simmons and Concordia Texas are in fourth at 10-5.
UTD controlled the first half and took a 34-26 advantage into halftime. They built a 51-36 lead with 13:46 remaining in regulation, but the Cru continued to chip away at the lead until tying it up at 66-66 on a pair of free throws by Ty Prince with 40 seconds left. Both squads missed three-pointers in the final 15 seconds to send the game to overtime.
The Comets took a 71-68 lead over the first 1:07 of the extra period, but the Cru ultimately outscored the visitors 17-11, shooting 6-for-8 from the field and 5-for-6 from the line in the OT.
For the game, UTD shot 37.5 percent (27-for-72) overall, 11-for-33 from three-point range and 12-for-17 at the charity stripe. They also had 42 rebounds, 11 assists, five steals and 15 turnovers.
UMHB shot 45.2 percent (28-for-62) from the floor, 4-for-20 from outside and 23-for-29 at the line with 41 boards, 14 assists, six blocks, 11 steals and 11 turnovers.

- Guard
Kyle Poerschke led the Comets with 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
- Senior forward
James Curtis recorded his third career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
- Freshman
Austin Page had his sixth double-digit scoring game of the year and fourth in a row with 12 points.
- Sophomore guard
Nick Donnelly scored 11 points, his sixth double-digit performance of the season.
- Senior guard
Hunter Stevens posted nine points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals.

- Josiah Johnson led all players with 21 points and five steals, while recorded six rebounds, three assists and a pair of blocks.
- Ty Prince had 16 points, five rebounds and two blocks.
- Nathan Stolz scored 14 points and hit a trio of three-pointers.
- Luke Feely added 11 points and nine boards off the bench.
