ABILENE, Texas - Nine program records were broken by the UT Dallas track & field team at the Wes Kittley Invitational hosted by Abilene Christian at Elmer Gray Stadium Saturday. The Comets tallied 12 total records on the weekend as three were set Friday evening.
Trent Sakakini continued his magical spring by winning the 800 meter run with a new school record of 1:53.53. He finished ahead of a NCAA Division I runner from Tarleton State, breaking his old mark by 1.72 seconds. Sakakini's time is also fourth in Division III.
Junior
Kameron Quinn claimed three records on Saturday. He broke his own mark by .18 seconds in 10.77 in the 100 meter dash, placing 11th and was 15th with a time of 21.91 in the 200, besting the old record by .63 seconds. Quinn also anchored the 4x100 meter relay team that shaved off .94 seconds of the program in 42.35. He was joined by
Muaaz Makda,
Rami Habbas and
Chiemeka Ejikeme in the relay, placing fourth.
Sophomore
Lucas Wick broke his own school record by 11 inches in the shot put, throwing 11.42 meters (37 ft.-5.75 in.).
For the women, freshman
Tia Billingsly also claimed two program records. She broke her own mark in the 100 meter dash in 13.21 seconds, taking 22nd place. Billingsly also shattered the previous 200 record by 3.29 seconds, with a time of 27.87 seconds.Â
Sophomore
Sage Herrera finished 13th in 2:28.13 in the 800 meters, breaking her old mark by 2.74 seconds.
Hannah Edwards also improved on her own school record by 1.75 inches in the long jump, clearing 4.53 meters (14 ft.-10.5 in.). Good for a 19th place finish.
UT Dallas Men's Notes
- Quinn now ranks 10th the nation in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes.
- The men's 4x100 team is ninth in the country.
- Makda was the top finisher for the Comets in the men's 400 with a time of 50.30, placing 16th.
- Nine Comets ran in Saturday's 1,500 meters section two with Chritstopher Castro taking third place in 4:11.99.
Griffin Davis and
Justin Ardis followed in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Dami Oyadiran placed 11th with a long jump of 6.26 meters (20 ft.-6.5 in.).
UT Dallas Women's Notes
- Billingsly finished 22nd in the 100 and 34th in the 200.

Aparna Amarneethi was 26th in the 400 meter dash in 1:12.00.

Rebeca Betanzo was eighth in the 1,500 meter section two run with a time of 5:14.97.

Chisom Mbah had a shot put of 8.76 meters (28 ft.-9 in.), placing 17th.
- Edwards was also 18th in the javelin with a mark of 25.97 meters (85 ft.-2 in.)
