RICHARDSON, Texas - The #24 UT Dallas women's tennis team swept McMurry 9-0 at the UTD Tennis Courts Friday afternoon.
The Comets (6-2) took all three doubles pairings from the War Hawks (4-4), starting with an 8-0 blanking by
Saumya Vedula and
Rebecca Jackson over Hannah DeFriend and Hope Turner at number one. The win moved Vedula and Jackson to 7-1 on the season.
At number two,
Elyssa Ducret and
Megan Zeng topped Bridgette Fly and Jenna Vincent 8-3 and
Suzuka Nishino and
Kriti Parikh defeated Emily Nuttall and McKenzie Carroll 8-5 at number three.
In singles, Nishino, who is ranked #10 in the nation, won over Turner 6-3, 6-1 in the top spot and Vedula defeated Fly 6-2, 7-5 at number two. Jackson was a 6-1, 6-1 number three winner over Vincent and Ducret topped Nuttall 6-1, 6-2 in the fourth spot.
Zeng won 6-0, 6-0 at number five over Carroll and Parikh won over DeFried 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 at number six.
The Comets will be back at home on Sunday against St. Mary's (Texas) at noon.
