UTD Stuns Trinity with Late Goal

RICHARDSON, Texas - Senior forward Kate Crowe scored the only goal of the game with 1:26 remaining in the game to give UT Dallas a 1-0 victory over Trinity (Texas) at UTD Soccer Field Sunday.

Keeper Jade Press booted the ball from the box and was touched by a pair of Tiger (2-3-1) defenders, before a streaking Crowe intercepted a pass in the middle, shot off her left foot and caught the Trinity keeper leaning to the right. The shot bounced in off the bottom of the left post to give the Comets (6-0) the victory.

Trinity outshot UTD 15-6 overall but both teams had five shots on goal. The Tigers led in corner kicks 4-2 and committed more fouls, 7-1.

The win was the first for UTD in school history against Trinity. The Tigers, a consistent national power, had won the previous 17 games, dating back to 2000.

The Comets also extended their shutout streak to six games to open the season and are one of just four teams in NCAA Division III yet to allow a goal this season.
