Comets Battle Lady Jackets to 1-1 Tie

RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's soccer team opened the American Southwest Conference part of the schedule with a 1-1 tie against Howard Payne at UTD Soccer Field Thursday evening.

The Comets' (6-0-3, 0-0-1 ASC)) eight-match shutout streak came to an end when the Lady Jackets' (4-4-1, 0-0-1 ASC) Regan Noel scored unassisted after a chaotic corner kick in the 41st minute. 

UTD tied the game in the 74th minute when senior Ashlynn Thomas found the net off her right foot after a pass by freshman forward Kate Meyer.

Both teams took 12 shots, while the Comets led 8-6 in shots on goal. UTD also had a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks while both squads committed five fouls. 

UT Dallas Notes
- The Comets remain unbeaten through the first nine games of the season. 
- UTD series with HPU moves to 15-0-2 all-time.
- Thomas' goal was the first of her career. She took five shots, three on goal.
- Meyer recorded her second of the season.
- Grace Bales took two shots on goal.
- Jenna Wilkinson and Ashleya Farrell both took a shot on goal.
- Jade Press had four saves. Her scoreless minutes streak ended at 829:26, the third longest in program history.
- Wilkinson, Peyton Guidry and Kaitlyn Futschik played all 90 minutes.

Howard Payne Notes
- Noel's goal was her first of the season. She also logged all 90 minutes.
- Hannah Noel, Addie Carroll, Brenna Douthit, Alexandria Barnett and Briana Carter each took a shot on goal.
- Emily Williamson recorded seven saves.
