Men's Soccer Defeated by Trinity

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer team suffered a 4-1 loss to Trinity (Texas) at Paul McGinlay Field Friday night.

The host Tigers (3-0) controlled the first half, building a 3-0 lead and outshooting the Comets (0-2-1) 13-1. In the second period, UTD was more of a force with a 5-2 shots advantage.

Trinity added another goal in the 67th minute. The Comets scored in the 84th when senior forward Luke Deats drilled in a header at point blank range off a headed shot by Kayson Marriott. 

For the game, Trinity outshot UTD 15-6 overall and 5-1 on goal. The Tigers held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks and led in fouls 17-14. There were seven yellow cards issued in the match.

UT Dallas Notes
- Deats' goal was the third of his career.
- Marriott recorded his fourth career assist.
- Kaleem Shabout took UTD's other shot on goal.
- Benny Lube, Careem Flores and Hamza Syed each recorded a shot as well.
- Marriott and keeper Michael Hesse played all 90 minutes.
- Flores, Alex Mutalibov and Julio De Los Reyes each made their collegiate debuts on Friday.

Trinity Notes
- Adam Knutson scored the first two goals of the game just 3:31 apart.
- Zachary Anderson netted the third goal in the 40th minute.
- Michael Meese had the final Tiger goal in the 67th minute.
- Jesus Veloz and Chen Adjel each assisted a pair of scores. 
- Luke Mayfield also added an assist.
- Austin Wilman spent 75 minutes in goal.
