RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer team recorded its fourth shutout of the season, defeating LeTourneau 3-0 at the UTD Soccer Field Saturday night.
The win improves the Comets' (8-1-2) unbeaten streak to eight games. It was also the fourth shutout of the season.
After a slow first half, where the home team outshot the YellowJackets just 4-0, UTD scored all three goals over a 3:41 span in the second period.
Senior forward
Riley O'Donnell opened the scoring in the 54th minute on a corner kick that bounced into the goal. Just 21 seconds later,
Hamza Syed made it 2-0 on a fastbreak goal. Freshman
Carson Burden followed in the 57th minute with another big run, leading to the third goal.
UTD outshot LeTourneau 17-4 overall and 10-2 on target. The Comets also led 4-3 in corner kicks.
UT Dallas Notes
- O'Donnell registered his eight goal of the year. It was also his 36th career goal and 10th game-winner.
- Syed's score was his third of the season and sixth as a Comet.
- Burden also scored for the third time this season.
- Sophomore keeper
Anthony Alston picked up his third shutout of the year with two saves.
LeTourneau Notes
- Jordan Beltran and Emad Mohamed recorded the only shots on goal for the YellowJackets.
- Carson Gamble recorded six saves in 73 minutes.Â
- Patrick Bauer was the only LeTourneau player to play all 90 minutes.
