ABILENE, Texas - The UT Dallas volleyball team left the Mabee Complex with a 25-21, 25-27, 19-25, 25-17, 15-13 victory over Hardin-Simmons Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Comets (6-6) complete the season sweep of the Cowgirls (12-6).
UTD took the first set with relative ease, hitting .237 with 12 kills while HSU hit just .100 and made nine attack errors.Â
The home team took a 20-14 lead in the second set, but the Comets went on a 10-4 run to tie it at 24 each. The Cowgirls escaped with the 27-25 win. HSU then went on to take 2-1 leads in set after winning the third. UTD led the entire fourth set, connecting on 16 kills while HSU only managed eight.
The Cowgirls jumped out to a 9-3 advantage in the fifth frame, but the Comets answered with a 12-4 rally to end the match. Sophomore outside hitter
Stella Ballew recorded four kills during that stretch.
UT Dallas hit .181 for the match with 72 kills, seven aces, nine blocks and 105 digs. Hardin-Simmons hit .161 with 54 kills, six aces, 17 blocks and 81 digs.
UT Dallas Notes
- Ballew tied her career-best with 15 kills and set a new best of nine digs.
- Outside hitter
Alina Strickler recorded her third consecutive double-double and sixth of the season with 18 kills and 20 digs. She also registered four blocks.
- Sophomore middle blocker
Laura See finished with a .345 percentage, 14 kills and four blocks.Â
- Sophomore libero
Mari Hernandez set a new career-high with 34 digs.
- Both setters had double-doubles.
Sydney Sabin with 35 assists and 12 digs with a pair of aces.
Kira Braun added 24 assists, 13 digs and two aces.Â
- Freshman
Melia Mendoza-Flores hit .533 with nine kills and four blocks - all season bests.

Averi Frazier also had a personal best with 12 digs.
Hardin-Simmons Notes
- Jadyn Hernandez led all players with 14 total blocks - three solo.
- Liz Underwood recorded 14 kills and 12 digs.Â
- Abbi Allen had 11 kills and five blocks.
- Leigh Jespersen posted a double-double of 11 kills and 22 digs.
- Kat Martinez led the Cowgirls with 24 digs.
- Ali Meyer had 25 assists.
