RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's soccer team fell just short against Hardin-Simmons, falling 3-2 at the UTD Soccer Field Thursday night.
The visiting Cowgirls (13-1-2), the top team in the American Southwest Conference, got on the board first with a Belle Floyd goal in the 16th minute, assisted by Caroline Burrow.Â
The contest stayed 1-0 until Presleigh Thiessen connected with Lexi Templin in the 63rd minute to give HSU a two-goal advantage.Â
Freshman forward
Jules Chavez put the Comets (6-6-1) in the scoring column in the 71st minute. She converted a beautiful, arching free kick into the upper left corner of the goal from 32 yards out.
Aras King gave the the Cowgirls a 3-1 cushion in the 78th minute. Chavez struck again with 4:54 remaining in the game, this dribbling in open space and arching a kick to the right of the goal from the middle of the box.
The shot tallies were almost even, with HSU holding a 20-17 lead overall and 11-9 in shots on target. UTD led in corner kick chances, 8-4.Â

- Chavez leads the Comets with eight goals on the season with her third multiple-score game of the year.
