ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's basketball team earned its first win of the 2024-25 season by defeating Arlington Baptist 82-73 at the J. Norris Memorial Auditorium Tuesday night.
The Comets (1-1) led most of the first half, building a 10-point lead late in the period before taking a 41-34 advantage into the break.
UTD scored on the first possession of the second half on a
Jordan Balderaz layup, but the Patriots (1-1) went on a 13-2 run to go up 47-45 with 16:59 on the clock. From there, the teams exchanged leads three times over the next seven minutes.
Down 58-56 at the 10:36 mark, the Comets went on a 11-2 run to take the lead for good. ABU cut the their deficit to 74-73 with 1:57 remaining, but UTD ended the contest by scoring the final eight points.
The Comets shot 44.3 percent overall (27-for-61), 5-for-19 from three-point range and 23-of-34 at the charity stripe. They also recorded 47 rebounds, 19 assists, 19 turnovers, five blocks and six steals.
The Patriots shot 38.6 percent (27-for-70) from the floor, 5-for-17 from outside and 14-of-22 at the line with 42 rebounds, 20 assists, 15 turnovers, three blocks and 10 steals.

- Senior guard
Nick Donnelly led the Comets with 13 points with four rebounds and four assists.
- Freshman
Peyton Dulin recorded his first double-double with 11 points and 10 boards.
- Sophomore forward
AJ Carter scored a career-high 12 points off the bench on 5-of-6 shooting.
- Junior center
Austin Page had 10 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.
- Freshman
Bryce Potts recorded 10 points, four boards and a blocked shot.
- Balderaz finished with eight points and seven rebounds.
