RICHARDSON, Texas - The #38 UT Dallas women's tennis team defeated LeTourneau 8-1 in its first American Southwest Conference East Division match at the UTD Tennis Courts Wednesday evening.
The Comets (2-3, 1-0 ASC East) opened the match with a pair of doubles victories over the YellowJackets (5-7, 0-1 ASC East). Juniors
Elyssa Ducret and
Megan Zeng defeated Isa Casso and Brandy Weems 8-1 at number two and
Elsha Valluru and
Jhastine Red Ballado took down Anatole Hurta and Clara Brisman Taylor 8-0 at number three
UTD swept through singles play with all six victories. Senior
Rebecca Jackson won at number one 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 against Megan LeBlanc. Freshmen
Riya Matharoo and
Reika Nagai won easily at two and three, respectively. Vedula defeated Elizabeth Moreau 6-0, 6-3 at number four and Zeng won over Hurta 6-3, 6-0 at five. Ducret used a third-set tiebreaker to defeat Olivia Clark 3-6, 6-4, 10-5 in the sixth spot.
UT Dallas Notes
- Vedula picked up her 28th career win and moved into a tie for ninth place on UTD's all-time list.
- Ducret is now tied for 10th in career doubles victories with her 30th.
- Ducret and Zeng picked up their team-leading third doubles victories of the season.
- Valluru and Ballado are now 2-0 as a team.
- Nagai and Zeng now lead the Comets with three singles victories a piece.
