RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's tennis team defeated LeTourneau 5-0 in the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Semifinals Thursday night at the UTD Tennis Courts.
With the win, the Comets (9-5) advance to Saturday's Finals against the winner of Mary Hardin-Baylor and East Texas Baptist at 1 p.m.
UTD swept through doubles against the YellowJackets (10-9), the third seed from the East Division. Seniors
Saumya Vedula and
Rebecca Jackson topped Megan LeBlanc and Grace Rogers 8-2 at number one and juniors
Elyssa Ducret and
Megan Zeng were 8-0 victors over Isa Casso and Brandy Weems in the second spot.
Jhastine Red Ballado and
Elsha Valluru took the third flight 8-1 over Anatole Hurta and Clara Brisman Taylor.
The Comets then needed just two singles victories to clench the match. Vedula was a straight 6-0, 6-0 winner over Hurta at number four and Ducret secured the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win against Emma Boulanger at number six.
UTD will be playing for its fifth consecutive ASC title and sixth overall on Saturday.
