UTD Handed First Loss of Season by Emory

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The UT Dallas men's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season, falling 4-1 to Emory at Stewart Field Friday evening. 

The Eagles (2-2-1), who were ranked in the preseason Top 25 by United Soccer Coaches, took a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute on a goal by Sebastian Rincon. The Comets (2-1) tied it in the 50th minute on a Riley O'Donnell penalty kick.

Attila Sepkin gave Emory the lead in the 57th minute. Ryan Hayes and Lorenzo Avalos also scored in the 62nd and 81st minutes, respectively.

Emory outshot UTD 22-9 overall and 11-3 on goal. The Comets led in corner kick chances, 5-2, and the Eagles committed more fouls at 18-13.

UT Dallas Notes
- O'Donnell scored his 30th career goal and now has 73 career points. He ranks sixth on the Comets' career goal list and tied for sixth in points.
- He has contributed a point in all three games this season, while picking up goals in the last two contests.
- O'Donnell is a perfect 3-for-3 in PKs in his career.
- Senior midfielder Benny Lube took two shots, one on goal.
- Sophomore Alex Mutalibov also recorded a shot.
- Goalkeeper Anthony Alston recorded a season-high five saves in 82 minutes. Trey Smith had two saves in a scoreless 8:15 in goal.

Emory Notes
- Rincon, Sepkin, Avalos and Hayes each recorded goals.
- Josh Grand, Ryan Winkler, Ryan Nichols and Julian Hee posted assists.
- Keeper Keirnan Skelly came up with two saves in 86 minutes.
- Winkler led the Eagles with three shots on goal.
