RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 victory against Rogers State at the UTD Soccer Field Friday night.

After a scoreless first half, the Comets' (2-3) broke through in the 51st minute when freshman Julia Chavez blew by the RSU defense and arched a shot over the keeper's head. 

The defense held on the rest of the way for the first shutout of the season. 

The Hillcats (1-5) outshot the Comets 17-9 overall and 6-5 on goal. RSU took the only corner kick, while UTD had eight fouls compared to four for the visitors.

UT Dallas Notes
- Jade Press recorded six saves for her 19th career shutout.
- Lyla Nielsen, Kalyn Brewer, Rylyn Reyes, Claire O'Sullivan, Maddie Meyer and Kaley Robison were responsible for the shutout in the backfield.
- Nielsen, Brewer, Meyer, Robison and Amelia Griffin each played 90 minutes.
- Chavez' goal was her team-leading third of the season. She took five shots, three on goal.
- Griffin and Bethany Cone also recorded shots on goal.

Rogers State Notes
- Morgan Martucci played all 90 minutes and took two shots on goal.
- Alix Tirado-Negrete recorded six shots and three on goal.
- Jordyn Smith also took a shot on target.
- Tiffany Brittan posted four saves.
- Zoey Johnson also played 90 minutes
