Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Explodes for 6-0 Victory over McMurry

RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer team exhibited an impressive performance on both offense and defense, defeating McMurry 6-0 at the UTD Soccer Field Sunday night.

The Comets (4-1-1) outshot the War Hawks (2-4-1) 36-1 overall and 19-0 on target. UTD also led in corner kicks, 12-0, and McMurry had more fouls, 7-4.

Senior forward Riley O'Donnell netted the first goal in the 13th minute on a pass from Hamza Syed. Just 20 seconds later, O'Donnell connected with fellow senior Cole Morgan to make the game 2-0. Carson Burden added another score with an assist from Jet Thomson in the 31st minute to go up 3-0 at the break.

Jason Torres found Benny Lube for another goal in the 57th minute. O'Donnell recorded his second goal of the day after knocking in an Alex Mutalibov rebound with two minutes remaining in the game. Mutalibov assisted Elias Taft's goal with 33 seconds left for the final 6-0 tally. 

UT Dallas Notes
- The Comets posted their second straight shutout.
- O'Donnell's five-point performance was the third of his career and he scored twice for the eighth time. He now sits in in fifth place in both career points (80) and goals (33).
- Lube's goal was the second of the season and fifth of his career.
- Morgan scored for the second time this year and ninth time in his tenure.
- Burden and Taft's goals were their first as Comets.
- Syed's assist was the sixth of his three-year stint at UTD.
- Mutalibov finished with a pair of assists.
- Thomson and Torres recorded their first career helpers as well.
- Anthony Alston and Trey Smith split time in goal for the combined shutout.
- The defense of Kayson Marriott, Kaleem Shabout Julio De Los Reyes, Jayden Messiah, Vaughn Morgan, Cayden Casburn, Jet Thomson, Jake Rother and Diego Flamenco held McMurry to just the one shot.

McMurry Notes
- Anthony Licea recorded the only shot for the War Hawks.
- Brandon Walker had 11 saves in 81 minutes in goal.
- Julian Trevino was responsible for a team save in the first half.
