MARSHALL, Texas - The UT Dallas men's basketball team continued its hot start to 2025 with a 72-59 victory over East Texas Baptist at Ornelas Gymnasium Saturday evening.
The Comets (9-6) stifled the Tigers (4-12) in the opening period, leading 41-18 at halftime. UTD shot 48.5 percent (16-for-33), while holding ETBU to 26.3 percent (5-for-19). They also ended the half on a 24-10 run.
UT Dallas scored the first six points of the second period to take a 29-point lead. The Tigers outscored the Comets 41-31 in the second half, but only came as close as a 12-point deficit.
UTD shot 43.1 percent from the field (25-for-58), 7-of-26 from three-point range and 15-of-18 at the free throw line with 40 rebounds, 14 assists, 16 turnovers, one blocked shot and six steals.
ETBU shot 36.2 percent (17-of-47), 4-for-9 from outside and 21-of-30 at the line with 31 boards, eight assists, 16 turnovers, four blocks and seven steals.
The 17 field goals and four three-pointers made were the fewest allowed by the Comet defense this season.
UT Dallas Notes
- Senior guard
Nick Donnelly led UTD in scoring for the seventh time this year, netting 22 points while pulling down six rebounds. He was 6-for-12 from three-point range and moved from seventh to fourth on the Comets' career list with 153 three-pointers made. Donnelly passed
Donovan Souter (2021-24/148), Kyle Coulter (2014-17/149) and Kyle Schleigh (2010-14/150).
- Freshman guard
Peyton Dulin reached double-digit scoring for the 10th time this season with 16 points. He also added six rebounds, five assists and a pair of steals.
- Junior center
Austin Page was 4-for-4 from the floor and the free throw line en route to 12 points. He also pulled down five boards.

Jordan Balderaz added eight points and four rebounds.
- Freshman
Bryce Potts came off the bench for six points and four rebounds, including three offensive.
- Sophomore forward
Zach Spitzer led the Comets with three steals.
East Texas Baptist Notes
- Jason Justice was 7-for-18 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free throw line for 22 points while adding three assists and two steals.
- Colin Roberts scored 16 points.
- Michael Roberts led the Tigers with eight rebounds.
- JT Curry added six points off the bench.
