Comets Dominate Knights 82-43

KEENE, Texas - The UT Dallas men's basketball team came up with its best defensive performance of the season, defeating Southwestern Adventist 82-43 at Leiske-Pultar Gymnasium Tuesday night.

The Comets (11-6) held the Knights (5-12) to just 26.3 percent shooting (13-for-55) with the home team committing 20 turnovers.

UTD led the entire game, including 49-21 at halftime. SWAU only managed to shot 15.4 percent (4-for-26) in the first period, while the Comets shot 51.5 percent (17-for-33). UT Dallas led by as much as 41 late in the game.

The Comets shot 46.7 percent (28-for-60) overall, 8-for-21 from three-point range and 18-of-21 at the free throw line with 47 rebounds, 22 assists, 14 turnovers, six blocks and a season-high 14 steals.

The Knights went 7-of-25 from outside and 10-of-17 from the line with 30 rebounds, 10 assists, six blocks and eight steals.

The 43 points, 13 field goals made and 23.6 field goal percentage were season-lows for a UTD opponent this season. The win marked the sixth straight for the Comets.

- Freshman forward Bryce Potts led UTD with a season-best 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting.
- Senior guard Ryan Nurenberg recorded career-highs of nine points and four steals.
- Sophomore Franklin Onyeme came up with a season-best eight points, a steal and a blocked shot.
- In just nine minutes, center Austin Page posted eight points, seven rebounds and two blocks.
- Freshman guard Peyton Dulin recorded seven points, seven rebounds and five assists.
- Senior center Tyler Stephenson came up with career-highs of six points and seven rebounds, including five offensive.
- Senior Nnamdi Edeoga hit a three-pointer and grabbed four rebounds.
- Junior guard Everett Bates had three assists and three boards.
- Jordan Balderaz added seven points on 3-of-3 shooting.
- Matthew Soto, Rob Wade and Nick DOnnelly each dished out three assists.

Southwestern Adventist Notes
- Orlando Gooden led the Knights with 14 points to go with four rebounds and two steals.
- Bryron Fields scored six points and blocked three shots.
- Jonathan Russell also scored six points, hitting a pair of three-pointers.
- Domonique WIlkins added five points, six rebounds, two blocks and four steals.
