UTD Battles First-Place LCU in Four Sets

RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas volleyball team took on Lone Star Conference leader Lubbock Christian at the UTD Activity Center Saturday afternoon and lost in four sets 25-13, 25-27, 25-19, 25-18.

First Set Highlights
- The Comets (3-15, 1-7 LSC) started strong, taking an early 3-1 lead with a kill by Camryn Kerlick and a block by Kerlick and Jada Williams.
- The Lady Chaps (17-4, 9-0 LSC) turned the momentum with a 6-0 run, including a block by Lily Bickley and Camryn Blair, to move ahead 11-6.  
- A series of kills by Lily Bickley and Bryleigh Schweer extended LCU's advantage to 21-11.  
- Camryn Sears contributed significantly for LCU with multiple assists, including setting up Schweer and Emilee Sikora for key kills.  
- LCU closed the set 25-13 with consecutive kills by Blair, securing the final two points.

Second Set Highlights 
- UTD began with momentum, capitalizing on a block by Kerlick and Williams to secure early points.  
- The Comets started strong with a 4-1 lead, highlighted by blocks from Williams and Jane Burkhardt.  
- Burkhardt made significant offensive contributions, recording multiple kills assisted by Abby Gentner, to maintain the edge.
- Lubbock Christian responded with a 7-0 run, featuring multiple kills by Sikora, to take an 8-5 advantage.  
- After falling behind 14-11, the Comets rallied with six straight points, including a service ace from Sydney Sabin, to move ahead 17-14.  
- The set remained tight with ties at 22 and 24, but Burkhardt's kill clinched the set for UTD, 27-25.

Third Set Highlights
- Moriah Johnson's kill from Mari Hernandez gave UTD an early advantage, initiating the set with a 1-0 lead.  
- UTD and LCU exchanged points early, with the score tied at 3-3 after a kill by Bickley.  
- The Lady Chaps then gained momentum, executing a 4-0 run to take an 8-5 lead, bolstered by a service ace from Abby Dominguez.  
- The Comets tied the set at 12-12 with back-to-back service aces by Sabin.  
- LCU surged again, building a 6-0 run with two service aces from Ramsey Clark, extending their lead to 19-14.  
- LCU closed out the set 25-19 with a block by Jade Workman and Schweer, securing the victory.

Fourth Set Highlights
- UTD started strong with a block by Williams and Johnson, gaining an early lead.  
- The Comets took an early 2-0 lead with a block and a kill from Kerlick.  
- Kerlick and Burkhardt each added kills, keeping the score close in the early exchanges.  
- The Lady Chaps responded with a 4-1 run, capped by a kill from Sikora to even the score at 4-4.  
- LCU then went on a 7-0 run, including two kills from Payton Murray, to take a 12-7 advantage.  
- Johnson and Burkhardt countered with kills, but LCU closed the set on a 9-4 stretch, with a kill from Workman, securing the 25-18 win.
