SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH - The UT Dallas men's basketball team lost to Westminster (Utah) 75-62 at the Behnken Field House Friday evening in its 2025-26 season-opener.
A three-pointer by junior forward
Jordan Balderaz gave the Comets (0-1) an early 14-11 advantage with 13:09 left in the first half and led again 20-19 at the 9:29 mark. The Griffins (1-0) closed out the half on a 24-10 run, taking a 43-30 lead into the break.
WU led by 52-37 early in the second half before UTD went on a 15-6 rally to cut the deficit to 58-52 with 9:10 remaining. The Griffins pushed the lead back out to 14 before coming out with the 13-point win.
The Comets shot 36.7 percent (22-of-60) from the field, 8-for-29 from three-point range and 10-of-17 at the free throw line. They also had 32 rebounds, 13 assists, 10 turnovers, five blocked shots and 10 steals.Â
The Griffins were 45.6 percent (31-for-68) overall, 7-of-22 from outside and 6-of-9 at the line with 48 boards, 22 assists, 14 turnovers, three blocks and three steals.

Bryce Potts went 4-for-6 shooting for 9 points.
- Freshman guard
Will Warren also scored 9 points in his collegiate debut.

- Balderaz finished with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

Peyton Dulin recorded 5 points and 7 steals - one off the school record.

Westminster Performances
- Michael Frazier paced the Griffins with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds.
- Jonah El-Farrah had 13 points, 2 steals and 5 rebounds.
- Tommy Ball had 10 points and 4 assists.
- Colin Hayes recorded 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
- Cole Kadoguchi added 9 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds.
