RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas volleyball team defeated DBU 28-26, 28-26, 21-25, 25-20) in Lone Star Conference action Friday night at the UTD Activity Center.

The Lady Patriots (12-12, 6-10 LSC) built a 15-10 lead in the first set before the Comets (8-19, 5-11 LSC) answered with a 7-2 rally to knot it up at 17-17. The teams would see seven more ties before UTD would end the opener 28-26 with a Jada Williams kill.

In the second set, DBU led 20-15, then 24-21, but UTD fought off three set points to tie it up 24-24. The squads tied again at 25 and 26, with the Comets closing out with a Jane Burkhardt kill and Abby Gentner ace. UTD hit .326 with 20 kills in the second frame.

The Lady Patriots led most of the way through the third and forced another set with the 25-21 tally. The Comets had a 19-17 advantage in the fourth and closed out the match on a 6-3 run. 

For the match, UTD hit .247 on 66 kills, seven aces, 84 digs and tied the season-best with 10 blocks. DBU hit .193 with 60 kills, six aces, six blocks and 82 digs.

UT Dallas Performances
-  Burkhardt hit .328 with 24 kills and 17 digs for her 10th double-double of the year.
- Freshman outside hitter Moriah Johnson was one off a season-best with 20 kills.
- Freshman Lila Westphal posted 9 kills and 5 blocks while hitting .450.
- Middle blocker Laura See also had 9 kills and 5 blocks.
- Williams finished with 5 blocks as well.
- Gentner posted 53 assists, 17 digs and 3 blocks. She moved into a tie for fourth-place on UTD's single-season list with 16 double-doubles.
- Sydney Sabin served up 6 aces to go with 6 assists and 14 digs.
- Junior libero Mari Hernandez came up with 13 digs.
- Averi Frazier added 10 digs.

DBU Performances
- Karly Wells led the Lady Patriots with 22 kills and hit .262.
- Lauren Witte had 14 kills and 11 digs.
- Reagan Pfifer added 11 kills and 3 blocks.
- Sydney Payne recorded 18 assists and 17 digs.
- Madisyn Jones added 23 assists and 8 digs.
- Maria Vandano had 22 digs and 11 assists.
