GOLDEN, Colo. - UT Dallas freshman center
Hudson Goellner recorded his first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds as the Comets lost to #10 Colorado School of Mines at Lockridge Arena Friday night.
The Comets (0-3) led the Orediggers (1-5) 16-14 midway through the first period, before the home team went on a 14-1 run to take control. A steal and dunk by sophomore guard
Peyton Dulin put UTD down 28-25 with 2:27 left in the period. Mines managed to push its lead to 37-27 going into halftime.
The Orediggers shot 55.2 percent (16-of-29) in the second half, including 6-for-14 from the three-point line, outscoring the Comets 48-29 in the period.
For the game, UTD shot 30 percent (18-of-60) overall, 5-of-24 from outside and 15-of-20 at the free throw line. They also recorded 33 rebounds, 11 assists, 12 turnovers, two blocked shots and 11 steals.
Mines shot 47.5 percent (28-of-59) from the field, 9-of-29 from outside and 20-of-27 at the line with 48 boards, 20 assists, 14 turnovers, nine blocks and nine steals.
UT Dallas Highlights
- Goellner was 5-for-10 from the field and four of his 10 rebounds were offensive.

Jacob Smithey led the Comets with 12 points to go with five rebounds, two assists and a blocked shots.
- Dulin finished with nine points and three steals.

- Cooper Mroczek had 10 points and eight boards.
