Comets Lose in Four to Dustdevils

LAREDO, Texas - The UT Dallas volleyball team dropped a four-set match to Texas A&M International 25-22, 25-22, 27-29, 25-16 at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building Friday night.

First Set Highlights
- The Comets (7-18, 4-10 Lone Star Conference) opened with a 3-1 lead, capitalizing on an attack error and a service error from the Dustdevils (5-18, 3-11 LSC). Moriah Johnson opened the scoring for UTD with a kill assisted by Sydney Sabin.
- TAMIU responded with a run that included consecutive service aces to gain a 10-5 advantage.
- The Comets attempted a late comeback, narrowing the gap to 23-21 with a series of kills from Lila Westphal and Jane Burkhardt.
- The Dustdevils secured the set 25-22, following an Abby Buenrostro block.

Second Set Highlights
- UTD jumped out to a 10-4 lead, highlighted by service aces from Sydney Sabin and Avery Pickard.
- TAMIU responded with a strong rally, leveling the score at 17-17 with key plays from Caitlyn Cornell and Samantha Estrada.
- The Dustdevils held on to win the set 25-22.

Third Set Highlights

Fourth Set Highlights
- The teams exchanged early points, reaching a 5-5 tie after a block by Lila Westphal and Moriah Johnson. Jada Williams contributed two early kills.
- The Dustdevils went on a 6-0 run, featuring a service ace by Mia Ramirez and two kills by Sanchez, extending their lead to 12-6.
