BROWNWOOD, Texas - The UT Dallas men's basketball lost to Howard Payne 93-88 at the Brownwood Coliseum Saturday afternoon.
After a back-and-forth first half, the Comets (13-8) took a 46-42 advantage into the break. They went on to lead the Yellow Jacets (9-11) 80-67 with just under minutes to play.Â
HPU went on to outscore UTD 26-8 over the final minutes of the game. Tied at 88-88 with under a minute to play, the Yellow Jockets got a bucket from Nathan Scott, a pair of free throws from Hudson Johnson and another free throw from Armonie Ramey. The Comets missed three shots and two free throws in the final minute.
For the game, UTD shot 54.3 percent (38-of-70) overall, 7-for-26 from outside and 5-of-10 at the line with 37 rebounds, 22 assists, 19 turnovers, three blocks and seven steals. The 38 field goals made were the most for the Comets this season, but they had the fewest free throws made and attempts of the season. They were also called for a season-high 27 fouls.
HPU shot 43.8 percent (32-of-73), 9-of-23 from three-point range and 20-of-34 at the charity stripe with 40 boards, 14 assists, 12 turnovers, no blocks and 12 steals.
UT Dallas Notes
- For the seventh time this season, senior guard
Nick Donnelly made five three-pointers, en route to 15 points.Â

Austin Page was 7-for-8 shooting with 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists and a blocked shot.
- Forward
Jordan Balderaz went 6-for-8 overall for 12 points to go with seven rebounds and three assists.
- Sophomore
Zach Spitzer recorded three steals and 10 points, scoring in double-digits for the second consecutive game.
- Freshman guard
Peyton Dulin had nine points and six rebounds off the bench.
- Freshman forward
Bryce Potts also scored nine points with four rebounds.

Rob Wade was 3-of-3 for six points.

Ryan Nurenberg dished out a career-best four assists.
