LONGVIEW, Texas - The UT Dallas men's basketball team was defeated 72-62 at the hands of LeTourneau at Solheim Arena Saturday afternoon.
The host YellowJackets (17-7) took a 37-29 lead into halftime. The Comets (14-9) opened the second period with a 9-1 run to tie the game at 38-38 with 16:53 to play.
Knotted at 41-41, LeTourneau's Jackson Mayes scored the next six points to give the host the lead for good. The YellowJackets extended its lead to as many as 12 points. The Comets came as close at 68-62 with 1:42 remaining in the game.
UTD had its second-worst shooting performance of the season, converting 36.5 percent (19-of-52) from the field. They were also 5-of-25 from outside and 19-of-21 at the free throw line with 36 rebounds, 12 assists, 19 turnovers, three blocks and four steals.
LeTourneau shot 42.4 percent (25-of-59) overall, 7-for-25 from three-point range and 15-of-17 at the line with with 33 boards, 15 assists, 10 turnovers, three blocks and 10 steals.
UT Dallas Notes
- The Comets' 90.5 percent at the free throw line was the best this season.
- Junior center
Austin Page was 7-for-10 shooting, en route to 20 points. He also recorded five rebounds and three assists.
- Sophomore
Zach Spitzer had nine points, eight rebounds and a pair of blocks while going 5-for-5 at the stripe.

Ryan Nurenberg each scored seven points.

AJ Carter chipped in five points with four rebounds.
LeTourneau Notes
- Mayes led the YellowJackets with 21 points off the bench.
- Deonte Jackson recorded 14 points, eight assists and four steals.
- Caedmon Liebengood also scored 14 points.
- Logan Brinkoeter had nine points and nine rebounds.
