RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's basketball team outpaced Howard Payne 109-76 at the UTD Activity Center Thursday night.
The game got off to a quick start with the host Comets (15-9) leading 53-41 at the half. They exchanged the lead six times with Yellow Jackets (11-13). UTD kept its foot on the gas, shooting 64.5 percent (20-of-31) in the second period.
For the game, the Comets shot 56.5 percent (35-of-62) overall, 12-of-26 from three-point territory and 27-of-35 at the free throw line. They also had 51 rebounds, 28 assists, 24 turnovers, 11 blocked shots and 12 steals.
HPU shot 37.7 percent (26-of-69) from the field, 10-of-30 from outside and 14-of-21 from the line with 25 rebounds, 14 assists, 19 turnovers, five blocks and 16 steals.
UTD tied the school record set in 2013 with 11 blocks. The 109 points was the ninth-most in program history and the 28 assists tied for ninth.
UT Dallas Notes
- Six Comets scored in double-digits.
- Senior guard
Nick Donnelly scored 17 points, hitting four three-pointers. He moved into second on UTD's career list with 176 threes made.
- Sophomore forward
Zach Spitzer was 5-for-6 from the field and 7-of-8 from the line for a season-best 17 points. He also had six rebounds and two blocks.
- Senior guard
Ryan Nurenberg recorded career-highs of 12 points, seven assists and four rebounds.
- Freshman
Bryce Potts recorded 12 points and seven rebounds, going 3-for-3 from the field and 6-of-6 at the free throw line.

Peyton Dulin chipped in 10 points, five assists, two blocks and three steals.
- Sophomore guard
Matthew Soto hit a trio of threes for 10 points to go with three assists.
- Junior center
Austin Page just missed a double-double with eight points, nine boards and two blocked shots.
- Junior guard
Everett Bates hit a couple of outside shots for six points.

- Armonie Ramey led HPU with 13 points.
- Trey Jackson had 12 points, five rebounds and three assists.
- Nathan Scott added 12 points and three steals off the bench.
- Riley Fornerette recorded 10 points, two assists and three steals.
Up Next
The final game of the season will be at home Saturday at 3 p.m. against Hardin-Simmons. UTD will honor its seniors before the contest.
