RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's tennis team picked up its first victory of the season, defeating St. Thomas (Texas) 4-0 at the UTD Tennis Courts Sunday afternoon.
The Comets (1-1) swept through all three doubles matches to earn the first point. Sophomores
Chloe O'Connor and
Kendall Curley defeated Hannah Snyder and Adriana Iturralde 6-2 at number three and
Jhastine Red Ballado and
Elsha Valluru defeated Aimee Tran and Nataly Velasco 6-2 in the second flight.Â
Senior
Megan Zeng and sophomore
Reika Nagai took the top doubles battle 6-3 over Lucia Rodriguez and Ella Mullins.
Playing to a decision, the Comets only need three points to secure the win over the Celts (1-1). Zeng moved to 2-0 on the season with a 6-1, 6-1 number two win against Mullins. O'Connor topped Train 6-2, 6-4 at number five and Curley finished the match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Velasco at the fourth spot.
UTD will take on Texas Wesleyan at 2 p.m. Saturday in Arlington.
