ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's tennis team gave Texas Wesleyan a tough challenge, but was ultimately edged out 5-2 at the Arlington Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.
The host Rams (2-1) took the doubles point by winning two of the three matches, but the Comets (1-2) won at number three with sophomores
Chloe O'Connor and
Kendall Curley topping Camdyn Sackett and Taytum Stafford 6-3.
UTD started off singles strong, with O'Connor defeating Stafford 6-3, 6-0 at number five and
Jhastine Red Ballado downing Sackett 6-0, 6-1 in the sixth spot.Â
Three of the remaining four match-ups went to a third-set tiebreaker, all of which went to TWU. Carla Arce Fernandez won over Curley at number four 6-2, 3-6, 10-5. Zeynep Ege defeated
Reika Nagai 7-5, 0-6, 10-5 at one and Kaja Brunzlow won 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 over
Elsha Valluru.
UTD will return to the court on Friday, February 28 at East Texas Baptist with a 3 p.m. start.Â
