UTD Volleyball Tops Cameron in Five for First LSC Win

RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas volleyball team earned its first Lone Star Conference victory, defeating Cameron 25-21, 21-25, 19-25, 25-15, 15-9 at the UTD Activity Center Saturday afternoon.

First Set  
- The Aggies (4-10, 0-2 LSC) opened with a kill from Presleigh Roest, assisted by Rachael White. 
- The Comets (3-9, 1-1 LSC) responded with a block by Laura See and Moriah Johnson to even the score.  
- Hailey Baker contributed two kills for CU, helping them maintain a slight edge.  
- Jada Williams led a late surge for the Comets with consecutive kills, propelling them to a 25-21 set victory.

Second Set  
- UTD opened the set with a quick 5-0 run, featuring kills from See, Johnson, and Lauren Petty.  
- CU responded with a strong sequence, narrowing the gap and eventually tying the set at 8-8 with a combination of kills and a service ace.  
- Roest and Maria Osorio led the Aggies during a 7-0 run, pushing their lead to 15-8.  
- The Comets had multiple kills by Johnson, the Aggies secured the set 25-21 with Kayla Eggiman's decisive kill.

Third Set  
- Anastasija Andelic and Eggiman led CU early, each contributing key kills to establish a 5-2 advantage.  
- UTD narrowed the gap to 10-7, highlighted by a block from Jane Burkhardt and See, followed by a See kill.  
- Cameron extended their lead to 16-13 with a service ace from Kayla Quintana and a kill by Jennifer Valdez.  
- Despite a late push from the Comets, the Aggies secured the set 25-19 with Haley Beggs closing on a kill.  

Fourth Set  
- The Comets opened the set with a 5-0 run, featuring kills from Jada Williams and Johnson, and a service ace by Williams.  
- CU responded with a service ace and two kills by Eggiman, narrowing the gap to 7-6.  
- Johnson's consistent performance with multiple kills helped UTD extend its lead to 20-12.  
- Abby Gentner sealed the set for the Comets with a decisive kill, closing the set 25-15.  

Fifth Set  
- UTD began the set with a quick start, with Petty and Johnson delivering early kills for a 2-0 lead.  
- Momentum continued for the Comets as See and Averi Frazier's service aces pushed the score to 6-2.  
- Williams and Gentner's block extended UTD's lead to 11-4.  
- Johnson's final kill sealed the set at 15-9, securing the victory for the Comets.

CU hit .153 on 53 kills, 11 aces, 3 blocks and 95 digs.

Moriah Johnson  - 18 kills, .306 percentage, 3 blocks.
Jada Williams  - season-bests 12 kills, 4 blocks and .370 percentage.
