UTD Falls at Eastern New Mexico

PORTALES, N.M. - The UT Dallas women's basketball team lost 69-51 to Eastern New Mexico at the Steve Loy Foundation Arena Saturday afternoon.

The game was close early as the Comets (10-12, 7-8 Lone Star Conference) led 13-8 after the first quarter and the Greyhounds (15-9, 11-5 LSC) had a 30-28 advantage at halftime.

ENMU opened the third quarter with an 11-0 run, building a double-digit lead. They went on to lead by as many as 21 in the fourth quarter.

The Greyhounds controlled the boards, out-rebounding the Comets 40-29, including 10-4 offensively. 

UTD shot 34.7 percent (17-of-49) from the field, 7-of-25 from three-point range and 10-of-14 from the line. They also had 12 assists, 17 turnovers, a blocked shot and 10 steals.

ENMU shot 42.6 percent (23-of-54) overall, 6-of-21 from outside and 17-of-26 at the free throw line with 16 assists, 14 turnovers, a block and seven steals.

UT Dallas Performances
- Graduate student guard Anna Yellen led the Comets with nine points, going 3-for-6 from beyond the arc.
- Freshman Kinley Mears had eight points, two assists and three steals.
- Clara Paynter tied a season-high with seven rebounds to go with five points.
- Forward Sheridan Kavanagh scored seven points.
- Freshman forward Danielle Oyakhire recorded seven points and five rebounds.
- Senior Addy Self added six points, two assists, three steals and a blocked shot.

Eastern New Mexico Performances
- Mekhila Brown went 7-for-7 shooting and led all players with 17 points off the bench.
- Chloe Dallas posted 14 points and eight rebounds.
- Julieta Ceja had 12 points and five boards.
- Aaliyah Smith recorded 10 points and four assists.
- Nataya Lockett dished out six assists.

UTD will return home to face UT Tyler on Thursday, February 19 at 5:30 p.m.
