RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's tennis team started the 2026 season with a close, 5-2 loss to Southern Arkansas at the UTD Tennis Courts on Friday afternoon.
The number three doubles tandem of
Kendall Curley and
Grecia Idrogo earned a victory for the Comets (0-1), defeating Isabella Lazzerini and Victoria Perez for the Muleriders (1-0). SAU went on to take the doubles point by winning the other two duels.
Idrogo, a freshman, capped off an undefeated day by topping Perez 6-0, 6-2 at number six. Freshman
Presley Churchman earned UTD's other point with second-spot 6-3, 7-5 win over Roskana Kokocha.Â
The Muleriders had to fight to win the other four match-ups, with each featuring a tiebreaker.
Namrata Makhija pushed Taylor Conway at four before falling 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-3).
The Comets will take on UT Arlington at the UTA Tennis Center at 10 a.m. Saturday.
