RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's tennis team picked up its first Lone Star Conference win, defeating UT Permian Basin 4-3 at the UTD Tennis Courts Saturday afternoon.
The visiting Falcons (4-8, 0-2 LSC) won the doubles point with close victories at one and three. The Comets (4-7, 1-1 LSC) won 6-1 in the second spot with
Katia Robinson and
Namrata Makhija defeating Mattea Bowe and Paige Sitanggang.Â
UTD won the match by taking four of the six singles battles. Robinson defeated Fanny Bergstrom 6-4, 7-5 at number one and
Presley Churchman was a victor over Sophia Rashid by the score of 6-4, 6-2 at three.Â
Freshman
Sheryl Gerald was a three-set winner over Bowe in the fourth flight - 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. The match was clinched by Makhija at five with a 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 victory.
The Comets will host Sul Ross State in league play on Sunday at 6 p.m.
