RICHARDSON, Texas - The Denton Volleyfest concluded at the UTD Activity Center on Saturday with a UT Dallas sweep over Westminster (Utah). The Comets (4-3) defeated the Griffins (1-6) 25-22, 25-20, 25-13.
Down 16-15 in the first, UTD went on a 7-0 run with
Lola Fisher serving to take control of the set. Comets went on to win 25-22.
With UTD up 18-17 in the second, the home team ended the set on a 7-3 rally to take a commanding lead. The Comets hit .303 with 16 kills in the second set.
UT Dallas led the majority of the final set, eventually winning by 12. Outside hitter
Jane Burkhardt hit .750 with six kills in the final frame.
The Comets hit a season-best .236 and recorded 42 kills, four aces, 53 digs and nine blocks. The Griffins hit .051, the lowest by a UTD opponent this season, with 23 kills, five aces, 39 digs and four blocks.
UT Dallas Notes
- Burkhardt posted 12 kills, six digs and a pair of blocks.
