Power, the only Comet to play in all 88 sets in 2009, was elected the American Southwest Conference East Division Freshman of the Year after turning in a mesmerizing first-year campaign. She led all Comets with 4.69 digs per set as UT Dallas cruised to a 25-0 record during the regular season.

A libero, Power maintained a reception percentage of .916, smashing the program’s all-time record of .646 set by Kyleigh Irish over a four-year span. Beginning on Oct. 3, 2009, Power was named the ASC East Division Defensive Player of the Week five straight times—just one week shy of a league record for consecutive honors.

2009: Compiled 413 digs throughout the Comets’ 26 matches in 2009…named to the ASC East Division Second Team…awarded ASC East Division Freshman of the Year Honors, the first Comet to do so since Amber Wetz in 2007…amassed 16 service aces.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played libero at Winston Churchill HS (San Antonio, TX), where her team won a district championship and twice advanced to the regional final…was twice named to Academic All-District Team…played club volleyball for San Antonio Heat, a 2008 Junior Olympic qualifying team…also played club volleyball for Maverick and River City Star squads…member of the National Honor Society.
